CADDO MILLS — The Krum offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage Friday night, paving the way for three 100-yard rushers in a 27-6 season-opening blowout of Caddo Mills at Ed Locker Field.

The Bobcats (1-0) enter this season eligible to play for a district title and a playoff berth after playing 2011 as an independent program, playing a varsity schedule and going 6-4.

Krum’s season got off to a great start when it blew open a close game in the third quarter.

Caddo Mills has cut the lead to 7-6 when the Bobcats bounced back to extend their lead, courtesy of Brennan Ellis’ 56-yard touchdown run with 6:21 left in the third quarter.

Ellis bounced off several defenders on his way to giving the Bobcats a 14-6 lead. It was the longest run from scrimmage for either team, and Ellis finished with 108 yards on nine carries.

On the ensuing drive, Caddo Mills quarterback Jordan Bicknell threw an interception to Krum’s Jake Fleckenstein, setting up the Bobcats at the Foxes’ 26-yard line. Two plays later, Reed Flores — who recorded a workmanlike 104 yards on 18 carries — burst up the middle for a 20-yard touchdown run with 4:33 left in the third. The score was Flores’ second on the night.

That put the game out of reach, but the Bobcats added a score in the fourth quarter on quarterback Caz Wojciak’s 6-yard TD run with 8:51 left.

Wojciak was Krum’s third 100-yard rusher, as he finished with 139 yards on 17 carries.

Krum’s defense didn’t need that much help, as the Bobcats held the Foxes (0-1) to 200 total yards. They were especially hard on Foxes star Daxx Hill, who gained just 49 yards on 13 carries.

The Caddo Mills passing game also proved ineffective, as starter Jordan Bicknell and backup Hayden Greene combined for just 10 completions on 27 attempts.

About the only things that went wrong for the Bobcats were penalties. They ended up with a dozen for 115 yards, four of which were personal fouls. In addition, a Krum holding penalty negated a touchdown late in the game.

Krum travels to Farmersville on Friday.
