ARGYLE — Liberty Christian took care of business quickly Friday night against Arlington Grace Prep.

Senior quarterback Foster Ford threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns, and Christian Burks returned an interception for a touchdown as the Warriors scored all their points in the first half en route to 35-12 homecoming victory over Arlington Grace Prep.

Five players scored for the Warriors, who improved to 3-1 on the season.

Ford completed 16 of 19 passes in the first half as the Warriors went to intermission with 260 yards total offense, while Grace Prep was held to only 99 yards and five first downs.

Lions quarterback Manny Ramirez completed only 2 of 13 passes in the first half and finished 6 of 21 for 97 yards and one interception.

Liberty finished with nearly 300 yards total offense to Grace Prep’s 212.

The Warriors wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard, taking the game’s first drive 61 yards in five plays capped by Ford’s 16-yard touchdown strike to Graham Richardson.

Liberty struck again just before the end of the first quarter. Grace Prep (1-3) faced a second-and-11 at its own 26, but Ramirez was intercepted by Burks at the line of scrimmage and the senior safety ran untouched for the touchdown to give the Warriors a 14-0 lead.

Liberty increased its lead to 21-0 early in the second quarter, as it took over at its 44 following a Grace Prep punt. Ford moved the Warriors to the Lions’ 23 in five plays and then completed a short pass to Benn Hawkins. A personal foul against Grace Prep moved the ball to the 10. On the next play, Ford threw a pass to Hunter Reece in the flat. Reece worked his way down the sideline and was hit at the 1. The ball came loose and teammate Josiah Hartzler recovered in the end zone for the touchdown.

Later in the second half, Liberty made it 28-0 as Ford found Mitchell Rowsell for a 30-yard scoring strike with 5:09 left in the half.

The Warriors added another score before halftime, when Howell capped a 41-yard, five-play drive with his 9-yard touchdown run.

Grace Prep avoided the shutout early in the fourth quarter. Ramirez completed a 39-yard pass to Justin Hollins to spark a 61-yard, eight-play drive that ended with a 1-yard scoring strike from Ramirez to Miles Norwood.

The Lions’ second score was set up after Brad Horner recovered a Liberty fumble at the Warriors’ 8. Four plays later, Justice Satterfield scored from 4 yards out.
