BONHAM — After giving up a touchdown on the first drive of the game, the Pilot Point Bearcats scored 25 unanswered points to cruise to a 38-12 victory over the Bonham Warriors Friday night.
Sophomore quarterback Travis Garrett led a powerful Bearcats running attack, with 125 yards on 18 carries and one rushing touchdown.
Pilot Point was very physical in the trenches, which allowed them to rush for 292 yards as a team.
Junior running back Tristan Jurecka got things going for Pilot Point early as he rushed for two touchdowns in the first quarter.
Garret then unleashed the passing game in the second quarter, connecting with Creed Bright for a 17-yard touchdown to extend Pilot Point’s lead to 18-6.
Garrett would squeeze in another touchdown pass with 2:34 left in the first half, finding wideout Jacob Lock on a screen over the middle for a 15-yard score. That gave the Bearcats a 25-6 advantage at the break.
Pilot Point was able to overcome three second-half turnovers to pull away for the 26-point victory.
Bonham was led by junior quarterback Dra Smith, who rushed for 61 yards on 16 carries and a score.
Smith also hooked up with sophomore wideout AJ White for a 19-yard touchdown for Bonham.
Pilot Point travels to Lindsay this Friday night.
