FARMERSVILLE — It all came down to one play on homecoming night at Farmer Stadium. With five seconds left in the fourth quarter, Farmersville (1-1) needed a 2-point conversion to pull even with the Krum Bobcats.

And when they needed it most, Krum’s defense came up big.

Farmersville quarterback Christopher Stanley rolled to his right to avoid pressure from the Bobcats’ defense and fired a strike to Jaelon Clark in the corner of the end zone, but the pass sailed through Clark’s hands.

Krum, now 2-0, recovered an onside kick by the Farmers with 5 seconds left to seal the 35-33 victory.

Krum dominated on the ground as quarterback Caz Wojiciak and running back Reed Flores combined for 219 yards — both going over the 100-yard mark — and both scored a touchdown each.

Krum’s punishing running attack also opened things up for Wojiciak downfield as he connected with receiver Brennan Ellis for touchdowns of 58 and 23 yards.

Wojiciak finished with 161 yards passing, two touchdowns and one interception.

Linebacker Morgan Sprayberry helped Krum take a 20-14 halftime lead after he recovered a fumble and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown.

Farmersville running back Andrew Simons carried the ball 13 times for 55 yards and two scores. And it was Simons’ 2-yard touchdown run with five seconds remaining in the game that gave the Farmers one last chance to tie.

Stanley finished with 166 yards passing, two touchdowns and two interceptions, but made his biggest contribution on the ground with 136 yards rushing.

The Bobcats square off at home against Alvord this Friday at Bobcat Stadium.
