Baseball roundup: Ryan falls to 0-4 in district

LEWISVILLE — After Ryan tied the game in the top of the seventh inning, Lewisville picked up a 4-3 walk-off win against the Raiders on Friday night to keep Ryan winless in District 5-5A play.

The Fighting Farmers (14-7, 2-2 district) loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh and scored the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly to center field.

Ryan’s Blake Grellhesl had a solid night at the plate. He went 2-for-4 with a key double. Junior Ryan Burks pitched a complete game for the Raiders (2-17-2, 0-4).

 

Azle 9, Denton 0

Denton’s offense couldn’t find a rhythm as the Broncos lost 9-0 at home to Azle.

The loss kept the Broncos (3-14, 0-5) winless in District 5-4A play. Dylan Tekell went 2-for-2 with a walk, and Mark Johnson went 2-for-3.

Azle (2-3 in district) scored in every inning but the sixth and seventh.

 

Sanger 14, Gainesville 0

GAINESVILLE — Sanger didn’t have any problems in its District 9-3A opener. The Indians scored 14 runs in five innings to pick up the win. The game ended in the fifth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Sanger’s T.J. Self went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Halen Frazier went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, while Anthony Escobedo went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Indians (11-6-1).

Ross Scott pitched four innings, struck out eight batters and allowed one walk in the win.

 

Decatur 11, Krum 5

DECATUR — Decatur’s big offense exploded against Krum and handed the Bobcats their first loss in District 9-3A play.

The Eagles came up with 11 runs and 16 hits.

Krum (8-7-2, 1-1) plated five runs in the final inning. Ethan Harrison had two RBIs in the loss for the Bobcats.

 

Aubrey 3, Bridgeport 2

AUBREY — Aubrey’s Blake Blackwell scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth to give the Chaparrals a one-run nondistrict victory over Bridgeport.

Aubrey’s Blake Stevens went 1-for-2 with an RBI in the victory for the Chaparrals (9-11). Noah Vaughn allowed one hit in two innings of relief.
