Baseball roundup: Argyle dominates Whitesboro 10-1

VAN ALSTYNE — Argyle improved to 12-2 after defeating Whitesboro 10-1 in the Van Alstyne tournament Saturday.

Brandon Boyzuick recorded the win for the Eagles, allowing one run on two hits. Davis Coughlin hit a triple.

Tournament of Champions

FRISCO — Despite strong efforts at the plate from Foster Ford, Hayden Holley and Connor McMann — each of whom hit a double — the Liberty Christian Warriors fell to Frisco Centennial 11-4 in the Tournament of Champions.

Garrett Carter took the loss for Liberty, allowing 11 runs on 13 hits.

Ponder tournament

PONDER — Despite Ponder’s attempt to rally in the fifth and seventh innings, the Lions still fell short to Plano John Paul II 7-5.

Collin Knight recorded the loss for Ponder, allowing seven runs on 11 hits. Micah Broadstreet and Keaton Malcom each had a double for the Lions.

On Friday night, Ponder used five late runs to earn a 6-3 comeback victory against Sanger.

Ponder’s Ethan Easterling went 3 for 4 with an RBI and scored two runs. Keaton Malcom and Dylan Nichelson each had two hits in the win for the Lions.

Sanger’s Ted Wisdom went 2 for 4 in the loss. Each team committed five errors.
