Softball roundup: Sanger rips Ponder, Liberty

ARGYLE — Sanger was the big winner on Day 2 of the Argyle/Liberty Christian tournament, defeating Ponder 8-2 before shutting out Liberty Christian 12-0.

Ponder also lost to Sunnyvale 3-2 to open the day, while Liberty Christian fell to Sadler S&S Consolidated 18-0.

At Argyle High School, the Lady Eagles were blanked by Burleson Centennial 10-0 before surviving a 7-6 decision against Decatur.

Today, Liberty Christian will begin play at 11 a.m. against Sunnyvale. Other games at Liberty Christian include Ponder playing Centennial at 1 p.m. and then S&S Consolidated at 3 p.m.

Lake Dallas and Sanger will face off at 11 a.m. at Argyle High, and the Eagles will begin action at 3 p.m. against Callisburg.


Lake Dallas 4, Pilot Point 3

CORINTH — Chrisa Head earned the win for the Lady Falcons (4-0), striking out nine batters and allowing just two earned runs on four hits and three walks.

Preslee Gallaway hit a home run and pitched three relief innings for the Lady Cats, allowing just one hit.

Mercedez Lane took the loss for Pilot Point (0-2), lasting three innings and giving up four runs, all unearned.

Amadi Taylor, Sydni Fulks, Macey Bauman and Kelsey Tuck each scored for the Lady Falcons in the opening frame.

Lake Dallas will face Sanger at 11 a.m. today at Argyle as part of the Argyle/Liberty Christian tournament. The Lady Cats will play host to Little Elm at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
