Baseball: Liberty beats Ryan, earns split at tourney

FRISCO — Liberty Christian split it’s final two games in the Tournament of Champions Saturday, topping Ryan 4-1 and falling to Lucas Lovejoy 7-5.

Jordan Parker earned the win for the Warriors against the Raiders, striking out nine batters and allowing one hit in five innings. Benn Hawkins added two doubles and three RBIs.

For Ryan, Blake Grellhesl collected an RBI and Ryan Burks scored its lone run.

Liberty Christian was in a 5-5 tie entering the final inning of game 2, but Lovejoy scored two in the seventh to steal the win. Connor McMann went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Danny David Linahan was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Liberty Christian will play host to Texas Home Educators’ Sports Association at 6 p.m. Thursday. Ryan will play at Flower Mound Marcus at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
