MONTGOMERY, Ala. — North Texas swept Alabama State 25-14, 25-10, 25-14 on Saturday night in the final game of the Alabama State Invitational, giving coach Ken Murczek his 50th career victory.

Carnae Dillard had 10 kills for UNT, which hit .402 for the match. May Allen had 21 assists and Shelby Tamura had 15 digs.

Picking up the milestone decision in his 85th career match as head coach of the Mean Green (13-5), Murczek is the fastest UNT coach to reach the 50-win plateau. The previous record holder, Dolores Copeland, was the program’s founding coach in 1976 and reached 50 wins in 89 matches.

Anniiya Robinson had a match-high 11 kills to lead ASU.

Earlier Saturday, Dillard peppered Jackson State with 15 kills as Murczek earned win No. 49 in a 25-15, 29-27, 25-11 sweep of the Tigers.

Dillard, who entered the week as a .127 hitter, was unstoppable against Jackson State (2-10) with a .424 attack percentage. She added six digs and a pair of blocks in the win.

UNT trailed 19-14 late in the second set but fought back thanks to Eboni Godfrey and Dillard. The duo combined for six kills down the stretch, including the clinching point.

Tamura notched a match-high 14 digs.
