Five players scored for North Texas to help the Mean Green take down Troy 5-1 on Sunday.
North Texas (9-3-1, 4-0-0 Sun Belt) is tied with Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky for first place in the conference.
UNT’s Karla Pineda headed in the first goal of the game in the fourth minute off a corner kick by Kelsey Hodges. Four minutes later, Michelle Young scored her 36th career goal, which moved her into sixth on UNT’s all-time list.
Troy’s Chelsey Williams scored midway through the first half.
Alyson Stallcup scored the first goal of her career in the 34th minute off a corner kick by Marissa Pantoja to put the Mean Green up 3-1 at halftime.
Amber Haggerty scored four minutes into the second half. In the 74th minute, Jackie Moreau headed in an Allison Guderian corner kick.
“I love [having five different players score],” UNT coach John Hedlund said. “Teams can’t focus on one or two players scoring.”
UNT will host Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m. Friday.
