North Texas won the Sun Belt Conference West Division title with a three-set sweep of Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday afternoon at the Mean Green Volleyball Center, taking the match by scores of 25-21, 27-25, 25-22.
With the victory, UNT earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference tournament.
The Mean Green finished the regular season at 23-11 overall and 9-5 in the Sun Belt.
It is UNT’s third SBC West title and second in three seasons.
The 23 wins are tied for the third-most victories for a single season in school history.
For the second straight match, Carnae Dillard led the Mean Green with 18 kills and 13 digs, her fourth double-double. In her final home match, May Allen also recorded a double-double with 46 assists and 10 digs. Courtney Windham registered 10 kills, and Hanna Forst finished with career-high nine kills and 11 digs. Forst also set a personal best with a .381 attack percentage, committing only one error.
Dillard led the attack in the first set, compiling six kills to help the Mean Green to a 1-0 match lead.
Forst came up strong in the second set, recording six kills and committing no errors to help hold off the UALR.
Behind a team .316 attack percentage, UNT came back from a 14-10 deficit in the third set to win and get the sweep.
North Texas will begin play in the Sun Belt tournament Thursday in Bowling Green, Ky.
