North Texas will open its home schedule with momentum on its side today when it hosts the Lovelace Invitational.

UNT will face Oklahoma State at 4:30 p.m. before taking on Nebraska-Omaha at 7 p.m. at Lovelace Stadium.

Iowa and Dayton, teams UNT will face Saturday, round out the field.

UNT (3-2) enters the tourney off a solid outing at the Texas tournament last weekend, when the Mean Green knocked off Memphis twice and beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. UNT’s only losses came against seventh-ranked Texas. The Mean Green pushed the Longhorns in the championship game of the event, taking a 2-0 lead before falling 5-4.

This weekend’s event is the only home tournament of the year for the Mean Green.

“We always try to keep it competitive, so it will a good atmosphere,” UNT coach T.J. Hubbard said. “This is absolutely a good opportunity for us to build on what we did down at Texas.”

UNT third baseman Jordan Terry was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for her performance in Austin. Terry hit .400, scored four runs and posted five RBIs.
