Golf: UNT’s Mundy tied for lead

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. — North Texas freshman Georgina Mundy battled through windy conditions and was tied for the clubhouse lead after the first round of the Arkansas-Little Rock Women’s Golf Classic. Mundy shot a 2-over-par 74 and shared the lead after 18 holes with two players. North Texas was tied for second place after the first round after posting a score of 319.

The Mean Green was seven strokes behind Missouri State. North Texas was tied with Central Arkansas and leads all four Sun Belt Conference rivals in the field.

The second round was suspended due to darkness and will be completed this morning before the final round begins.

Mundy tied her season low, matching her best score from the opening tournament of the fall season. Her best finish this season is a tie for 19th place.

UNT’s McKenzie Ralston was tied for 23rd after shooting an 81. Chaslyn Chrismer and Taylor Kilponen were one stroke behind Ralston after shooting 82s. They were tied for 33rd.

The Mean Green is going after its first win of the season and fourth top-six finish of the spring.
