Golf: UNT women place 12th at SMU

In the final event before the Sun Belt Conference tournament, the North Texas women finished 12th at the SMU Dallas Athletic Club Invitational on Sunday. Battling a gusty wind that kept all of the scores but two above 300, the Mean Green shot a third-round 326.

Oklahoma State won the tournament with a total score of 32 over.

Taylor Kilponen had the best day for North Texas with a final round of 6-over 78 to finish in a tie for 49th. Kilponen had three birdies on the day.

Georgina Mundy had the best overall score for the Mean Green for the second straight tournament despite shooting a final-round 83. She finished in a tie for 42nd. Chaslyn Chrismer also shot an 83 to finish in a tie for 52nd. McKenzie Ralston inched up into a tie for 56th after an 82, while Brooke Bailey shot an 86.

North Texas now gears up for the conference tournament April 15-17 in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
