One of the benefits North Texas hoped to receive with its move to Conference USA this fall was additional exposure, especially when it comes to television.

That hope continued to come to fruition Wednesday, when C-USA announced its television lineup with Fox College Sports for the 2013 football season. UNT’s games at Tulane on Oct. 5 and at Southern Miss on Oct. 26 were selected for the 10-game package.

UNT also had its Nov. 23 game against Texas-San Antonio picked up by the Time Warner Texas channel.

The Mean Green is now set to have eight games on television next season.

UNT officials say the additional exposure that television games provide is just one of several ways the move to C-USA will help the program improve.

“We will be on TV a lot more than we ever have before and have access to more bowl games,” UNT athletic director Rick Villlarreal said about the benefits of moving to C-USA. “Those are all things that are important to coaches and to players.”

UNT spent the last 12 seasons as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

UNT also announced kickoff times for five of its games next season, bringing the total number of game times that have been set to seven.

The Mean Green will host Ball State at 3 p.m. Sept. 14, play at Tulane at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 5, at Louisiana Tech at 3 p.m. Oct. 19 and at Southern Miss at 6 p.m. Oct. 26.

UNT then will play three consecutive home games, beginning with a showdown against Rice at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31. UNT will host 2:30 p.m. games on Nov. 9 and Nov. 23 against UTEP and UTSA, respectively.

The game times for all of UNT’s home dates have been announced with the exception of its Aug. 31 season opener against Idaho and its Oct. 12 game against Middle Tennessee.
