Women’s golf: UNT slips to 10th at C-USA tourney

GULF SHORES, Ala. — North Texas slipped into a tie for 10th place after the second round of the Conference USA tournament Tuesday. The Mean Green couldn’t find its rhythm after opening the day in seventh place, and shot a second-round 313 to fall into a tie with Marshall.

No. 34 Tulane remained atop the leaderboard at 4 under par and had a six-shot lead over Texas-San Antonio. North Texas was two strokes behind UAB and six off the pace of Tulsa.

Freshman Eji Kwon had the best day for UNT and the team’s lowest two-round score. Kwon shot 4-over 76 and was tied for 21st. Senior Chaslyn Chrismer shot a 6-over 78 and was tied for 27th.

UNT’s Laura DeLeonardis shot her second-lowest score of the season with a 77. She was even par through the first 13 holes, but then a double bogey tripped her up. DeLeonardis moved into a tie for 45th place. Brooke Bailey shot an 82 and Taylor Kilponen an 84.

The final round of the C-USA tournament is set for this morning.
