EDMOND, Okla. — It was a difficult second round at the Conference USA tournament for North Texas as it slipped into a tie for eighth place after shooting a score of 18-over par 298.

A trio of freshman led the Mean Green, but chances of UNT winning its third straight conference have all but vanished heading into today’s final round.

The Mean Green sits at 34-over 594 and is 25 shots behind Tulsa, which leads the tournament by three strokes over Charlotte.

Freshman Nick Rodriguez continues to lead the Mean Green after 36 holes as he is tied for 15th place. Rodriguez shot a 3-over 73 in the second round and is at 5-over 145 for the tournament.

Freshman Andrew Hudson is tied for 29th place after a second round of 75 on the day and he is at 148 for the tournament. Fellow freshman Cory Churchman is two strokes behind at 150 after shooting a 74 and is tied for 39th place.

Juan Munoz is alone in 51st place after a second round 77, while Jason Roets is tied for 63rd after shooting a 76.
