North Texas guard Ja'Michael Brown is transferring after two seasons with the Mean Green, a source close to the situation told the Denton Record-Chronicle on Friday.
Brown averaged 8.0 points per game as a freshman before seeing his scoring average dip to 5.8 points per game last season.
UNT was recruited by Tony Benford, who was fired at the end of last season.
Grant McCasland took over as UNT's coach and has quickly filled out the Mean Green's roster.
UNT announced the addition of forward Mark Tikhonenko today, putting the Mean Green one player over the NCAA scholarship limit of 13 players.
The departure of Brown puts UNT back at the limit of 13 players heading into McCasland's first season.
