ABILENE -- Abilene Christian raced out to a four-run lead over North Texas and never looked back at Poly Wells Field to take a 6-2 win Wednesday night.
In the loss, senior Kelli Schkade stole her 18th base to set North Texas' single-season record.
Hannah Null secured the win for the Wildcats, while North Texas senior Jessica Elder (6-8) went three innings and allowed four runs on six scattered hits.
ACU opened the scoring early, plating three runs in the first. The Wildcats stretched their lead to four in the second on Peyton Hendrick's two-out triple to right-center.
Schkade cut ACU's lead to two in fifth after hitting a 2-2 pitch over the wall in left-center, scoring sophomore Harley Perella.
ACU (27-16) regained the four-run advantage on Hendrick's two-run home run to left in the bottom on the fifth.
"We have identified a few things as a team that we need to clean up, but the bottom line is execution," UNT coach Tracey Kee said. "All we ask is the players come out and work hard the next two days, and we'll be prepared for Florida Atlantic."
The Mean Green host FAU for their final home series beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.
