North Texas picked up a commitment from Jaxon Gibbs, a safety from The Colony on Sunday.

Gibbs visited UNT earlier this summer and came away impressed.

"It was way better than I expected," Gibbs said after following the visit. "The campus is beautiful, and I can see the vision for the future. They are building a new indoor facility and a whole bunch of new things. That caught my attention. It showed that they are trying to improve on everything they do."

Gibbs is rated as a two-star prospect by 247Sports. The site rates him as the 178th-best safety prospect in the country in its composite rankings.

Gibbs announced his decision on his Twitter account:

Gibbs had scholarship offers from six schools, including Bowling Green and Illinois.

Gibbs is listed at 5-11 and 187 pounds. Here are his Hudl highlights.
