Rodeo: Record crowds return to NTSF rodeo

Jacobs Crawley of College Station spurs his saddle bronc, #44 Baccarat, to 78 points and the round win Sunday night at the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo.

The third and final PRCA rodeo performance at the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo saw temperatures in the 70’s that brought a record crowd out to the fairgrounds for a Sunday night. The arena conditions were also improved by Saturday’s rains leading to some near record times and some stellar performances by both the stock and the cowboys.

Caine Riddle won the bareback bronc riding aboard former horse of the year, Roly Poly, from Andrews Rodeo Company, with a score of 82.The only other qualified ride was Colt Bruce with a 76 aboard Matt, also from Andrews Rodeo Co.

In the steer wrestling Jack Hodges had a 5.2 to claim the top spot.A little over a second behind was Jarret New with his time of 6.3Iowa cowboy Josh Denison posted a 7.2 for the third fastest time of the night.

Wrangler National Finals2011 Round 8 winner and college NFR champ Jacobs Crawley spurred his saddle bronc, #44 Baccarat, to 78 points and the round win. Australian Travis Edwards rode #P69 Strike Force the required eight seconds for a score of 76 and second place. Third place went to the other bronc riding Crawley brother, Sterling, with his score of 74.

Colton Childs won the calf roping with his time of 10.7, finishing just ahead of Catfish Brown who had a 10.9Justin, Tx native Taylor Stout had a 14.5 for the third place finish.

Team roping was a close contest with just under a second separating the top three teams.Florida cowboys Nelson Linares and Clint Summers had a 5.6 second run to win the event.Cody McMinn and Daniel Reed placed second with their time of 5.8Rounding out the top three was the team ofJ.C. Williams and Justin Parish with a 6.5

Savannah Reeves of Cross Plains had the fastest time of the night and the second fastest time of the entire rodeo with her run of 16.70, just one one hundredths of a second off the lead overall.Second place with a 17.18 was Andrea Wolf from Decatur.In the third spot was NFR veteran Tammy Fischer with a 17.24

 Bulls again prevailed over the cowboys with no qualified rides.
