Swimming: Calhoun student qualifies for State Games of America

Seth Herrmann, a seventh-grader at Calhoun Middle School, has qualified for this summer’s State Games of America after capturing two gold medals and one silver at the Texas Amateur Athletes Federation Winter Games last weekend.

Herrmann, a member of the Denton school district’s swim team, won the 100-yard freestyle and the 50 backstroke and took silver in the 50 butterfly. Herrmann’s winning time in the freestyle was 1:01.39. He won the backstroke in 33.91 seconds and finished the butterfly in 34.61.

The State Games of America are scheduled for August in Harrisburg, Pa.
