Area gymnasts shine at state

Six members of Achievers Gymnastics Center have qualified for the USA Gymnastics regional championships after last weekend’s state meet.

Brianna Richardson of Guyer claimed first place in the Level 9 Senior C all-around with a score of 36.775 and won the balance beam title with a score of 9.375. MacKenzie Packer of Lewisville took third in all-around with a 36.225 and placed second on beam with a 9.275.

Emily Weesner of Flower Mound Marcus was fifth in all-around (35.625) and earned a season-best third-place finish on bars (8.975).

In the Level 9 Senior B group, Nikki Pressley of Denton placed ninth in all-around (35.375) and captured fourth on beam (9.20). Rebecca Lytle of Liberty Christian was 12th in all around (35.125) and seventh on floor exercise (9.10).

Achievers’ Level 10 Senior B representative, Schyler Jones of Calvary, scored a 36.05 in all-around and placed 14th. Her best individual showing was 12th on floor.

Richardson, Lytle, Weesner, Packer, Pressley and Jones now move on to the USAG regional meet to be held April 12-14 in Wichita, Kan.
