The second night of the North Texas Fair and Rodeo opened to a standing room only crowd on Saturday. Families and international visitors packed the stands and definitely got their money’s worth with another exciting night of rodeo action from the cowboys and cowgirls on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit.
In the steer wrestling, Dallas cowboy L.T. Teague posted a 4.5 for the top spot, with a 4.6 from John Kloeckler of Checotah, Ok. right behind him for second place. Rounding out the top three was Justin Locock of Hico, with his time of 8.8
Huntsville’s Garet Aldridge bested the field in the saddle bronc riding with his winning score of 76 aboard Snort from Andrews Rodeo Co. Second went to Dylan Henson of Bloomfield, NM with a 74 on Magic Moment. Third place with a 72 was College Station bronc rider, Aaron Lide, on Baccarat.
In the calf roping, Bart Meek of Alvord, put up a time of 12.0 for the win, with Stephenville’s Raymond Hollabaugh close behind with his time of 12.5 Third place with a 13.2 was Cheney, Ks roper Cody Quaney with a 13.2
Texas cowboys Josh Morris, from Clay’s Corner, and Jayton McCright, of Canyon, ran away with the win in team roping with their run of 5.6 Second place went to Ethan Fox, from Bonham, and Garrett McQueen of Ponder with their time of 15.5 followed by Quincy Keuckelhan, Bonham, Tx., and Wesley Moss from Paradise with a 16.8
Ladies barrel racing saw some runs approaching record times with Emily Efurd of Pittsburg, Tx claiming the top spot with her run of 17.48, followed by Tamara Smith of Anadarko, Ok. in second with a 17.60. Cotulla cowgirl, Samantha Lyne placed third with her time of 17.64
Only two cowboys covered their bulls to split first and second. Waco bull rider Cody Dollins and Elgin, Ok cowboy Barrett Robinson both marked an 84 to split the money.
There were no bareback riders entered Saturday night.
