Mansfield duo go 1-2 in breakaway roping

Wednesday night was the second night of the annual 21 and Under Rodeo at the North Texas Fair and Rodeo with contestants from across Texas and Oklahoma competing for cash and bragging rights.

In the girls’ breakaway roping, Mansfield’s Morgan Winkler led the pack with her time of 4.2 seconds. Second place went to Megan Winkler, also of Mansfield, with a run of 4.3. Anne Todd of Weatherford posted a 4.8 for third place.

Ethan Hilliard was the only contestant in the Saddle Bronc Riding, but unfortunately his horse won that matchup.

J.D. McCuistion of Collinsville won the calf roping with his time of 8.4 seconds. Second place went to Taylor Stout from Ponder with his run of 10.4 A 14.3 was good enough for third for Caleb Butler from Decatur.

Butler also competed in the team roping with Chris McCuistion. Their time of 11.4 seconds won the top spot. Second place went to Goose Ritzel of Sanger and Dakota Wing of Callisburg with a 17.1, while coming in third was the team of Tyler Ashman and Logan Loiselle, both from Ponder, with a run of 18.4.

Cierra Doyal from Kingston, Okla., had the quickest time in the girls’ goat tying with a 9.9, edging out Morgan Winkler’s 10.0 run. Rounding out the top three was Megan Winkler with her time of 10.3.

In ladies barrel racing, Bowie’s Augie Nobile bested the field with a run of 17.32 seconds. In second place was Bradee Rutledge of Aubrey, with a 17.80. A run of 18.35 by Whitney Chandler of Celina placed third with a time of 18.35 seconds.

Mansfield bullrider Colton Hays was the only contestant to cover his bull for 75 points and the win.
