Rodeo: Decatur cowboy wins Blowout buckle

The annual Bull Blowout at the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo came to an exciting conclusion Saturday night in front of a record-setting, standing-room-only crowd.

Lane Nobles of Mart won the night’s competition with a score of 80.5. Second place went to Thursday winner Bryce Barrios of Stephenville with a 78.5. In third was Cody Tyler of Mulhall, Okla., with a 78, followed by Ty Scott of Sanger.

In the cowboy protection match, Team Rudy’s BBQ placed first for the night with an eight-bull score of 388. Right behind in second place was Texas Farm Bureau with 387. Rounding out the top three was First United Bank.

After three nights of bull riding, Cody Atwood of Decatur topped the overall standings and claimed the buckle for high-marked ride with his score of 85 that won Friday night’s round.

Chuck Swisher and Matt Baldwin, the Team First United Bank entrants who won Thursday night’s contest, used their multi-night combined score to take top honors in protection bullfighting. Placing second overall was Team Wells Fargo, and Team Farm Bureau/

RDL was third. Fellow competitors voted Swisher MVP.
