Rodeo: Armes takes third in Round 6

LAS VEGAS — Gruver’s Bray Armes added to his winnings at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas and Mack Center.

Armes finished third in Round 6 of the steer wrestling competition. Armes threw down his steer in 4.1 seconds, earning $10,895.

Through six of 10 rounds, Armes has the fifth-best cumulative time and has earned $37,987. He needs just under $8,000 to double his regular-season earnings.

Armes earned his spot at the NFR with back-to-back first-place finishes to end the season. His father-in-law is Mike Riley, who owns a lightning protection business, a manufacturing business and a construction business in Denton County.
