PRCA entrants shine in finale

Sunday was the final night of PRCA action at the North Texas Fair and Rodeo. With a record crowd in attendance, professional cowboys and cowgirls from across the nation closed out the weekend with one of the best performances at the fair in recent years.

Bareback bronc riding started the show, with Ryan Little of Itasca making an exciting ride on Vodka for 76 points and the win. Placing second was Brian Leddy of Roll, Okla., with his score of 72 on Shady Lady. In third place was Huntsville cowboy Cody Ziober with a 66 on Ringo.

In steer wrestling, Blane Cox of Cameron posted the fastest time of the weekend with a 3.9-second run for first place. Close on his heels in second was Indiana cowboy Shayde Etherton with a 4.9. Weatherford steer wrestler Glen Clark claimed the third spot with his time of 5.3.

National Finals Rodeo qualifier Sterling Crawley won the saddle bronc competition with a score of 76 on Firefly, followed by Joseph Dean Lufkin’s 75 on Pathfinder. Placing third was Nebraska rider Wyatt Barstow with a 73 aboard Strike Force.

Tie-down roping saw a close race with a little more than 1 second between first and third. In the top spot was J.D. McQuistion of Collinsville with his run of 9.6. Don Coffell of Iredell was a second with his time of 10.6. Placing third with a 10.9 was Cleburne roper Colton Childs.

Team roping was another tight competition. Tyler Waters of Collinsville and Richard Durham of Lipan topped the field with a fast time of 5.4, followed by Oklahoma cowboys Charles Pogue and Cody Johnson with a 6.3. Rounding out the top three with a time of 6.4 was the Oklahoma team of Tavis Walters and Gage Williams.

NFR qualifier Tammy Fischer of Ledbetter won in barrel racing with her run of 17.20. Placing second with a 17.27 was Natalie Bland of Decatur. Third place went to Aubrey cowgirl Gretchen Benbenek with her time of 17.52.

There were no qualified rides in bull riding.
