Track and field: Pilot Point sophomore sprints to gold medal in 800
AUSTIN -- Adam Mendoza came flying down the backstretch, trying to find a way to get onto the podium. It turned out to be a state-championship sprint. The Pilot Point sophomore had a hard charge and was able to win the Class 3A 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.13 at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Ryan's playoff hopes were extinguished in the regular-season finale, as the Raiders fell behind early before giving up five runs in the sixth to essentially put the game out of reach in a 9-2 loss to Wichita Falls Rider.
Softball: Pilot Point clinches 9-3A title with win over Gunter
The first inning between Gunter and Pilot Point was an omen for the rest of the game. Lady Cats pitcher Christine Billmeier was dealing. She struck out the side on the way to 11 strikeouts on Friday and Pilot Point's offense used two runs in the first inning to claim the early lead that it would never relinquish as the Lady Cats won 9-1.
