CARROLLTON — Alyssa Bruton pitched a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts to lead Argyle past Carrollton Ranchview 6-0 on Friday in a District 10-3A game.

Lilly Carter’s RBI double in the second gave the Lady Eagles all the support Bruton would need. Cheyenenna Althoff and Allison Mastradonas had RBI singles, Adilen Gonzalez was 3-for-4 with a run and Kate Weaver stole home in the fourth.

Argyle will host Frisco Lone Star at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Ponder 22, Millsap 0 (5)

MILLSAP — After scoring six runs in the first three innings, Ponder exploded for eight runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings, leading to a rout of Millsap and a 5-0 District 9-2A start for the Lions.

Hidden in the final score was Ponder pitcher Jessica Orozco’s no-hitter. She struck out 14 batters and added a double and triple at the plate.

The Lions (10-9) will host Alvord at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
