Roundup: Lady Chaps win tournament title

WHITESBORO — The Aubrey Lady Chaps won the Whitesboro tournament after defeating Denison 5-1 on Saturday.

Kaley Reding (4-0) allowed four hits and one run.

Aubrey’s Marissa Perkins went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs. Logan Even went 2-for-4, and had two RBIs. Leadoff hitter Melanie Funk was 3-for-3.

Argyle/Liberty tournament

ARGYLE — The Sanger Lady Indians finished a flawless run through the Argyle/
Liberty Christian tournament, winning the championship after defeating Sherman 12-2 and Ponder 5-2.

Denton beat Prosper 2-1 and then beat Wylie East 11-2. The Lady Broncos placed third in the tournament.

Argyle shut out Canyon Creek 10-0 and defeated Christian Homeschool 6-5, improving the Lady Eagles to 3-3.

Ponder fell to Frisco Centennial 5-0 and then to Sanger.

The Liberty Christian Lady Warriors defeated Decatur 8-6 but then fell 6-2 to Christian Homeschool.

 

Boys basketball

Argyle 53, Madisonville 50

ARGYLE — Zach Dickerson and Spencer McCloud each scored 17 points to lead Argyle (24-9) to a victory over Madisonville in a warm-up game to prepare for the playoffs.

Girls basketball

Liberty Christian 60,
Fort Worth Nolan 37

FORT WORTH — Sydney Goodson scored 17 points to lead Liberty Christian past Fort Worth Nolan Catholic 60-37 late Friday, improving the Lady Warriors to 10-3 in TAPPS Class 5A Division I play.

Rayvon Christian also was in double digits for Liberty (21-14) with 12 points, and Hannah Hand had 11.
