CANYON — Katie Hines hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth Friday to lead No. 6 TWU to a 2-1 win over Cameron in the first round of the Lone Star Conference tournament.

Cameron jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

The Pioneers went hitless until Haley Colwell singled with two outs in the third. TWU had runners on first and second with one out in the fourth but couldn’t score.

The Pioneers went ahead on Hines’ 24th homer of the season. Lizzy Kelly was on base after a walk.

Brandie Lander tossed a complete game for her 20th win. She allowed all four Cameron hits in the first three innings and struck out four.

The Pioneers (44-12) will take on Midwestern State in the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. today.
