Stephen F. Austin shortstop Hunter Dozier was named a first-team Louisville Slugger All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball on Thursday. The teams were based on performance before this weekend’s NCAA regionals and were selected by the staff of Collegiate Baseball.

Dozier, a Denton graduate, was named the Southland Conference player and hitter of the year before last week’s Southland tournament, and he is the third Lumberjack to be named to the Louisville Slugger All-America team. He is the first SFA player to be named to the first team.

The junior finished the season leading the Southland in batting average (.396), home runs (17), doubles (25) and slugging percentage (.755), ranking in the top five nationally in those categories.

His 227 career hits and 59 doubles rank him first all-time at SFA. He is projected to go in the first two rounds of baseball’s First-Year Player Draft, which begins Thursday.
