Football: Pilot Point linemen earn mention on 2A All-State team

Two Pilot Point defensive linemen were honorable mention selections on this year’s Associated Press Class 2A all-state team.

Senior Lucas Greenwood and junior John Groff earned spots among 2A’s notable players.

Groff had 50 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, six sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Greenwood compiled 47 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 10 sacks, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Refugio’s Travis Quintanilla was named 2A’s offensive player of the year, while Daingerfield’s Kelshin Neal was named the defensive player of the year.

The 2013 Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Class 2A all-state high school football team, released Monday. Voting based on regular-season performance. Players are listed in alphabetical order at each position.
