Volleyball roundup: Eagles fly over Independence

ARGYLE — Sophomore Halee Van Poppel finished with 11 kills and six digs in her varsity debut as Argyle topped Frisco Independence 25-12, 25-19, 25-15 to open its season Tuesday.

Katy Keenan also had 11 kills for the Lady Eagles, along with 16 digs. Alexa Bass tallied 18 assists and nine digs. Maddie DeGuire notched 11 digs while Strealy Sizelove added 10 assists.

Argyle will compete in the Ryan Kick-Off Classic on Thursday.

Lake Dallas d. Kennedale

CORINTH — The Lake Dallas Lady Falcons claimed a 25-15, 25-21, 25-14 sweep of Kennedale to open their season.

Adrianna Nolly had six kills, five blocks and four digs for Lake Dallas, while Jennifer Chapman added three kills, four digs and 17 assists.

Lake Dallas will play in the Garland tournament on Friday.

Frisco d. Ryan

FRISCO — Ryan’s Lady Raiders fell 25-11, 25-11, 25-15 at Frisco in their first match of the season.

Sydney Lundgren had six kills and two blocks for Ryan, while Alex Sumner had five kills and Arissa Chappell added 15 digs.

Ryan will host its annual Kick-Off Classic beginning Thursday.
