North Texas has hired Stacy Martin as deputy director of athletics and chief financial officer.
Martin is the CFO of the American Athletic Conference.
UNT athletic director Wren Baker announced Wednesday that Martin in joining his staff.
“Stacy Martin is one of the brightest leaders and one of the finest collegiate athletics finance people in the country,” Baker said in a statement. “She is tremendous when it comes to strategic planning and critical thinking. I worked with her at Memphis and watched her play a vital role in making the department the most efficient organization possible while improving the student-athlete experience.”
Martin manages the AAC’s business affairs. She previously was the executive senior associate AD for finance and administration at Memphis. Martin managed the school’s $48 million budget. She managed the athletic budgets at Kansas State and San Jose State earlier in her career.
Martin is the second high-level athletic department official Baker has added to UNT’s staff since his arrival. He added Jared Mosley as his associate vice president and chief operating officer. Mosley was the CEO and president of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the former athletic director at Abilene Christian.
Baker worked with Martin at Memphis, where both were high-level athletic officials.
“I am honored to join the University of North Texas Athletic Department and am extremely grateful to Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker for this opportunity,” Martin said in UNT’s statement. “I look forward to working under Wren’s leadership and with the Mean Green coaches and staff to build a championship-caliber program for our student-athletes.”
