Middle school basketball: McMath girls top Crownover in opener

Behind the scoring of Megan Haney, McMath’s A-team Lady Tigers opened the eighth-grade season Thursday night with a 20-16 win over the Crownover Lady Cowboys.

Haney led all scorers with 14 points while Leah Stolfus added four.

Crownover eighth-grade ‘B’ 44, McMath 13

The Crownover Lady Cowboys broke open a tight game with a 26-7 run over the second and third quarters to take a win over McMath.

Brianna Payne led Crownover with 14 points, while Brielle DaSilva led McMath with six.

Crownover eighth-grade ‘C’ 22, McMath 15

Ashlyn Crawford and Chasity Figueroa had six points apiece to lead Crownover over McMath.

Maddie Scott led the Lady Tigers with 12 points.

Crownover seventh-grade ‘A’ 17, McMath 14

Crownover jumped out to a 11-4 halftime lead and crusied to victory over McMath.

Abby Folsom led McMath with 10 points and Ashanti McDade added four.

Crownover seventh-grade ‘B’ 32, McMath 4

The Crownover Lady Cowboys held McMath scoreless in three quarters and rolled to victory.

Alexandria Gilmore led the Lady Cowboys with five points, while Avery Ruiz and Lydia Perry each had two points for McMath.

Crownover seventh-grade ‘C’ 16, McMath 8

The Crownover Lady Cowboys used a strong defensive effort to defeat McMath.

Raegan Sullivan led McMath with four points.

Harpool eighth-grade ‘A’ 39, Strickland 3

Meredith Wood had 14 points, three rebounds and four assists to lead the Harpool Lady Longhorns to a rout of Strickland.

Emelia Wendel had six points and Courtney Cagianello and Olivia Ramirez had four apiece for the Lady Longhorns.

Harpool eighth-grade ‘B’ 41, Strickland 8

Fizzah Fasih and Jaryn Jefferson had eight points apiece and Sami Gomez added six as Harpool powered its way past Strickland.

The Harpool Lady Longhorns got four points from Reese Roberts in their win over Strickland.

Harpool seventh-grade ‘A’ 50, Strickland 5

The Harpool Lady Longhorns rode the hot shooting of Alisa Williams and Carrie Aune in their win over Strickland.

Williams had 12 points, Aune added 10 and Hailey Mason and Sisley Stephens each had eight.

Harpool seventh-grade ‘B’ 37, Strickland 1

Isabella Rohlik had 13 points, Mia Ferrara had eight and Abby Spencer and Sasha Seay had four apiece as Harpool defeated Strickland.

Harpool seventh-grade ‘C’ 25, Strickland 4

Laura Avila poured in 11 points and Ashley Masoner added four as the Harpool Lady Longhorns overpowered Strickland.
