Middle school roundup: Myers takes double-OT victory in finale

The Myers eighth-graders held the Crownover Lady Cowboys scoreless in the second overtime Thursday night to take a 20-18 victory in an A-team regular-season finale.

Michelle McKinney and Rodneyshia McMillian led Myers (3-4) with six points apiece and Lamaya McColor finished with four.

Karys Olson and Mikyla Jamison each had four points for the Lady Cowboys (3-4).

Myers eighth-grade ‘B’ 30, Crownover 11

Myers jumped out to an eight-point first-quarter lead and increased the advantage to 15 over Crownover at halftime en route to their first victory.

Zarea Taylor led the Lady Titans (1-5) with 13 points while Raven Sorrell had nine.

Marcella Arellano had eight points for Crownover (5-2).

Harpool eighth-grade ‘A’ 41, Calhoun 11

Courtney Cagianello had 12 points and six rebounds and Hailey Masoner added 11 points and three assists as Harpool dominated Calhoun.

The Lady Longhorns finished the regular season with a 7-0 record.

Harpool eighth-grade ‘B’ 27, Calhoun 13

Fizzah Fashih had six points, Olivia Lopez had five and Madeline Hallmark four as Harpool defeated Calhoun.

Little Elm seventh-grade ‘A’ 24, McMath 16

The McMath Lady Tigers got off to a slow start, trailed by six after the first quarter and couldn’t recover in a loss to Little Elm.

Abby Folsom led McMath (4-4) with seven points, Maddie Wiltgen had four and Kanisia Haley three.

Little Elm seventh-grade ‘B’ 21, McMath 18

Kaley Robinson scored 14 points but the McMath Lady Tigers came up short in a three-point loss to Little Elm.

Arody Mendez and Lydia Perry had two points apiece for the Lady Tigers (4-4).

Little Elm seventh-grade ‘C’ 9, McMath 7

Rylie Gattenby scored all seven points for McMath in its loss to Little Elm.

Crownover seventh-grade ‘A’ 31, Myers 16

Maggie Walsh scored 10 points to lead the Crownover Lady Cowboys (3-4) to a win against Myers.

Shian Blackshear led the Lady Titans (2-5) with four points and Taylie Fenner added three.

Crownover seventh-grade ‘B’ 30, Myers 6

The Crownover Lady Cowboys gradually pulled away from the start in their 24-point win against Myers.

Sydney Cannon led Crownover (5-2) with eight points, Madeleine Landstad had six points and seven steals and Kyndall Knotts finished with four points.

Crownover seventh-grade ‘C’ 18, Myers 6

The Crownover Lady Cowboys held Myers scoreless for the final two quarters to take a 12-point victory.

Alonda Rivera led Crownover (4-3) with six points.

Harpool seventh-grade ‘A’ 40, Calhoun 8

Alisa Williams poured in 15 points to lead the Harpool Lady Longhorns to a 32-point victory against Calhoun.

Hailey Mason and Carrie Aune each added six points and Hayden Colson had five for Harpool (12-1).

Harpool seventh-grade ‘B’ 35, Calhoun 0

Thirteen players scored for the Harpool Lady Longhorns as they shut out Calhoun in their season finale.

Devyn Weiland, Avery Hallmark, Laura Avila and Gracie Singletary led Harpool (6-1) with four points apiece.

Lake Dallas seventh-grade ‘A’ 43, Navo 18

The Navo Lady Panthers got strong efforts from Rea Brittain and Meadow Rhynes in their loss to Lake Dallas.

Brittain had five points and eight rebounds and Rhynes had five points and seven rebounds as Navo closed with a 3-4 record.

 

Boys

Little Elm eighth-grade ‘A’ 57, McMath

Little Elm raced out to a commanding first-half lead and coasted to victory over McMath.

Cameron Stevenson led the Tigers (3-5) with 11 points, Nate Bershell had 10 and Amir Fera and Alec Serna each added eight.

Little Elm eighth-grade ‘B’ 43, McMath 22

Charlie Gutierrez scored seven points, Tanner Amstutz had five and Marcus Crain and Chase Acker each had three for McMath (0-8) in its loss to Little Elm.

Little Elm eighth-grade ‘C’ 23, McMath 8

Blake Craft had three points and Jayden Toombs and Zach Austin each had two as the McMath Tigers (1-6) lost to Little Elm.
