Middle school basketball: Harpool wins playoff opener

Led by the scoring of Alisa Williams, the A-team Harpool Lady Longhorns jumped out to a fast start against the Calhoun Lady Cougars on Thursday night and rolled to a 51-10 victory in the opening round of the seventh-grade district tournament.

The Lady Longhorns (13-1) built an 18-0 first-quarter lead and led 32-5 at halftime. Williams poured in 20 points, followed by Meran Herring with 11 and Hailey Mason with 10.

Crownover eighth-grade ‘A’ 22, Myers 18

The Crownover Lady Cowboys broke open a tight game with a big third quarter to pull away and defeat the Myers Lady Titans.

Karys Olson led Crownover with eight points.

LaMaya McColor led the scoring for the Lady Titans with 11 and Dikeviah Daniel added seven.

McMath seventh-grade ‘A’ 24, Navo 17

The McMath Lady Tigers used a balanced scoring attack to take down Navo.

Megan Fleitman led the way with eight points, Kanisia Haley had five, Abby Flosom finished with four and Ashanti McDade added three for McMath (5-4).
