Soccer: TWU wins again, knocks off Abilene Christian

Brittany Martin scored two goals to lead TWU past Abilene Christian before a crowd of nearly 500 at the TWU Soccer Field.

TWU (5-3-1, 4-1-0 Lone Star) defeated ACU (3-6-1, 1-3-1) for the first time.

ACU’s Andrea Carpenter started the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 10:24 mark.

Martin tied the game at 29:37, with an assist from Emily Davila. Martin pushed TWU into the lead with her eighth goal of the season at the 35:21 mark, with an assist from senior Katy Black.

The Pioneers held ACU, a Sweet 16 team from a year ago, to five shots on goal. Lindsey Sisco posted four saves in the net for her fifth win of the season.

The Pioneers will host Midwestern State at 2 p.m. Sunday.
