LAWTON, Okla. — A last-second layup by Barbara-Scott Kolb gave TWU a 52-50 win Saturday at Cameron.

Toree Mason led TWU (6-10, 4-6 Lone Star) with a career-high 19 points, but Kolb’s offensive rebound and layup with two seconds left secured the narrow win.

Mason shot 7 for 14 from the floor, including 4 for 9 from 3-point range. She also had five rebounds in 31 minutes. Rebekah Cluley also reached double digits with 10 points, while Taylor Swift added nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

Kolb finished with six points, five assists and four rebounds.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first five minutes before Cameron went on a 16-0 run. The Aggies shot 47.6 percent from the floor in the first half and took a 28-20 halftime lead.

Cameron led by 11 points three times in the second half. Trailing 47-38 with 4:24 to go, the Pioneers closed out the game on a 14-3 run, including a 9-0 run in the final three minutes.

With 2:53 to go, Mason trimmed the deficit to four with a pair of free throws. The Aggies pushed the lead back to six, but TWU answered with 3-pointers by Mason and Swift to tie the game at 50 with 55 seconds left.

Swift missed a 3 with five seconds remaining, and Kolb cleared the offensive board and laid it in for the win.

“We stepped up and knocked down some big shots at the end,” TWU coach Beth Jillson said. “We jumped out to an early lead, but we weren’t consistent offensively until the final minutes. Toree and Taylor hit some big 3’s at the end, and B-Scott came up with a big offensive rebound and a layup.”

The Pioneers will travel to Stephenville on Wednesday to face Tarleton State at 6 p.m.
