Led by seniors Bethany Larimer and Kristin Edwards, TWU posted a season-high 193.150 to beat Lindenwood (191.250) in a dual meet Saturday night at Kitty Magee Arena.

Larimer anchored the vault team in the first rotation and posted a 9.800 to capture the event title. Kayla Jones finished second with a 9.725, while Edwards placed third with a 9.700. TWU finished with a team score of 48.525.

“We made some changes on vault, and I am proud of the outcome,” TWU coach Lisa Bowerman said. “Kayla upgraded her vault for the first time and had a good score.”

On bars, TWU’s Courtney Cochefski scored a career-high 9.850 to capture the victory. Larimer once again anchored the team and posted a 9.750. The Pioneers scored a 47.900 after counting a fall.

“We made some improvement on bars,” Bowerman said. “We will keep working to get better.”

On balance beam, four Pioneers scored 9.700 or better, led by Spencer Jones with a career-high 9.825. Margaret Mayfield scored a career-high 9.750, while Ciara Maradiaga scored a 9.725 and Larimer a 9.700. TWU finished with a team score of 48.625.

“We were 7 for 7 including exhibition for the second time this season, and I am very proud of that,” Bowerman said. “They were not our best routines, but [I’m] happy with the results.”

On floor exercise, the Pioneers started slow but finished strong for a team score of 48.100. Edwards captured the title with a 9.875, while Spencer Jones finished second with a 9.800.

“We counted a fall on floor but had some great routines,” Bowerman said. “Margaret really stood out in this meet. She really stepped up this year and we are proud of her. Bethany is a rock, and every time I talk about the team, I am talking about her. We definitely are going to depend on her a lot this season.”

The Pioneers will return to action Friday night when they travel to Chicago for the IGI Chicago Style Invitational. TWU will face Arizona, Illinois State and Pittsburgh.
