TWU names Griffeth assistant gymnastics coach

Garrett Griffeth has been hired to join Lisa Bowerman’s staff at TWU as an assistant coach, athletic director Chalese Connors and Bowerman announced Tuesday.

Griffeth comes to TWU from Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy, a club gymnastics facility owned by former U.S. Olympic coach Mary Lee Tracy.

Griffeth spent two years at Georgia as a graduate assistant (2010-11) and administrative associate (2011-12). He was responsible for daily operations involving the coaching staff and team, social media, recruits’ campus visits, NCAA compliance paperwork, travel and coordinating facility upgrades and maintenance.

“I could not be more excited to welcome Garrett to our staff,” Bowerman said. “The experience that he has with one of the top NCAA gymnastics programs as well as one of the top club programs in the country will be a great asset to our team.”

Griffeth earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science and a master’s in sports management from Georgia. He is married to former Olympic gymnast Courtney McCool-Griffeth.
