RALEIGH, N.C. — TWU scored a 192.500 and finished second in a triangular meet at North Carolina State on Friday night. The Wolfpack scored a 194.050 to win the title, while William & Mary finished third with a score of 191.300.

The Pioneers opened the meet on uneven bars and captured the event with a score of 48.475. TWU was led by senior Brittainy Johnson with a season-high 9.850. Seniors Courtney Cochefski and Bethany Larimer finished second and third on the team with 9.775 and 9.750, respectively.

In the second rotation, the Pioneers stumbled on balance beam and scored just 47.350 after counting a fall. Senior Margaret Mayfield was the leader for TWU with a 9.675, while junior Stephanie Repp posted a 9.650.

The Pioneers regrouped in the third rotation and scored 48.150 on floor exercise. Mayfield led the team with a 9.725, while sophomore Madison Kremer posted a career-high 9.700.

TWU closed out the meet strong on vault with a score of 48.525. Larimer was the leader for the third straight meet with 9.800, while Johnson scored a 9.725 and senior Brittany Montalbano posted a career-high 9.700.

“We are certainly disappointed by the uncharacteristic falls tonight on beam, but I am very proud of the way they kept fighting on floor and vault,” TWU coach Lisa Bowerman said. “We stayed together as a team and showed a lot of character tonight. There were some great individual performances, including career highs for Maddie on floor and Brittany Montalbano on vault.”

The Pioneers will return to action when they host a dual meet against Rutgers at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Kitty Magee Arena.
