Goals by Lexi D'Abrosca, Maddi Nolton and Hannah Schneider gave Texas Woman's University soccer a win in Lone Star Conference play and the first win in the past six games in a 3-0 victory over UT Permian Basin Friday evening at TWU Soccer Field.
The Pioneers (4-5-2, 1-3-1 LSC) took a season-high 29 shots and allowed only one shot on goal, a season-best, from the Falcons (2-7-1, 1-4-0 LSC). Maddie Vickroy tallied her fourth shutout on the year and gathered one save.
Lexi D'Abrosca notched the first goal of her TWU career in the third minute on a header with an assist from Jazmine Navarro following a corner kick for the first score of the game. Maddi Nolton set up for a penalty kick in the 30th minute and connected on her first goal of the season to put the Pioneers up 2-0.
In the second half, Hannah Schneider scored her second goal of 2017 on a direct shot 25-feet out in the center with nine minutes remaining for a 3-0 TWU lead.
Head Coach Babak Abouzar said, "Today's game was a total team effort. The early goal by Lexi got our team's energy going. Credit to Maddie, our backline, and our team's defensive attitude in getting the shutout."
