TWU's Desiree Phipps was named Lone Star Conference offensive player of the week for her efforts last weekend, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Phipps set a career-high in points with 11 in a 69-62 win over St. Mary's last Friday and then upped it to 15 in a 55-50 victory against Western State on Saturday. The junior from Ft. Gibson, Okla., shot over 80-percent from the floor in the wins, including a 6-of-8 showing from the three-point line. Phipps led the Pioneers in scoring throughout the TexAnn TipOff Classic while playing an average of 20 minutes.
The Pioneers will be at home this weekend during the Best Western Premiere Pioneer Classic Saturday with at 4 p.m. contest against Regis followed by a game Sunday at 4 p.m. versus Central Oklahoma.
