The Guyer ninth-grade A team used strong performances from several players to score a 34-30 victory over Coppell on Wednesday night.
Quarterback David Haynes had 85 yards rushing and passed for 124 yards and scored once. Running back Anthony Taylor rushed for 207 yards and scored twice and Alex Honey also had two touchdowns as Guyer improved to 4-1.
Haynes started the scoring with an 18-yard touchdown run, and Juan Mejia added the extra point.
Taylor then broke loose for a 65-yard TD run and Mejia tacked on the PAT. Honey then scored the first of his two TDs on an 80-yard pass from Haynes. Honey later caught a 4-yard TD pass from Haynes. Taylor completed the Wildcat scoring with a 32-yard run with 1:54 left.
Trey Woods added 56 yards rushing for Guyer, while Jose Carrillo, Austin Seago and Matthew Mendoza had strong performances for the defensive unit.
