Sub-varsity basketball roundup: Guyer JV knocks off Denton in tourney

Guyer's junior varsity had three players in double figures in beating Denton 64-44 in the Keller Tournament.

Leading the way for the Wildcats (8-5) was Xavier Brown with 15 points, and following right behind were Kason Kilgore with 13 and Mitch Willard with 11.

Other scorers were Bryson Erby (6), Erik Ramon (2), Gordon Hill (6), Dave Dhaliwal (3), Sam Perry (5), Demontrie Taylor (2) and Terrell Singleton (1).

 

Guyer boys ninth-grade A 52, Burleson 26

Guyer's defense allowed only two points in the second and third quarters in pounding Burleson.

The Wildcats dominated from start to finish with several major contributions from several players. Leading the way was Stephen Wright with 14 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Also, Derek Watson had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Alec Tovar had five points, three assists, three rebounds and three steals. Victor Hubbard had four points, nine rebounds and four steals. In addition, Matt Herriage had four points, three steals and two assists. Cole Priddy added four assists and two steals; Connor Rogue had five points and two assists; Josh Dixon had four points and three rebounds; and Collin Christian had two points and two rebounds.

 

Ryan freshman girls 42, Krum 35

Ryan turned back Krum in the championship game of the Sanger Tournament.

Ashtyn Lovett led the way for the Lady Raiders with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Also, LaSonn Threatt had 10 points for the winner.

Other Ryan scorers were Carissa Sanders and Dalyia Lara with five points each, Tichina Coleman with three, and Faith Pittman and Tyeria Evans with two apiece.

For Krum, Sadie May led the way with 13 points. Meanwhile, Toree Urich had seven points, Sidney Megahire had six, Kemi Reese four, Mikayla Woods three and Payton Pedroso two.
