Sub-varsity basketball roundup: Guyer JV rolls in district opener

Guyer's junior varsity boys played a solid four quarters in demolishing Keller Central 54-30 on Tuesday night in the district opener for both teams.

The Wildcats (11-5, 1-0) led 23-11 at halftime and never looked back.

Guyer got contributions from several players. Leading the pack was Mitch Willard with 11 points, followed by Erik Ramon with nine. Shelton Childress had eight points, Bryson Erby finished with six and Demontrie Taylor had five. Also, Dave Dhaliwal had four points while Xavier Brown, Terrell Singleton and Josh Harris each had two.

 

Keller Central freshman A 55, Guyer 29

Keller Central had little trouble turning back Guyer.

For Guyer (2-8, 0-3), Chandler Dean had nine points and Lainey Quinn finished with six.

 

Creekview JV 47, Ryan 41 (20T)

Creekview nudged past Ryan in a double-overtime thriller.

For the Raiders (6-6), Alan Grant had 12 points, Montarious Banks had 10 and Jeremy Lenoire nine. Trent Willis had five points and Corbin Forrest had three.

 

Creekview freshman A 55, Ryan 48

Creekview scored 20 fourth-quarter points to rally past Ryan.

For the Raiders, Ibrahim Logan had a team-high 21 points while Markus Jackson finished with 16.

Also, Jordan Murray had four points, A.J. Hill had three and Tyler Yoeman and Dillon Lockhart each had two for Ryan.

 

Girls

Guyer JV 39, Keller Central 28

Guyer marched to its 15th win against only one defeat in handling Keller Central.

Sarah Mack led the scoring for the Lady Wildcats with 10 points, while Ola Akinniyi and Tatum Branch had seven points apiece. Elese Arias and Zakria Green each had four points, and Dria Windle and Madi Franklin scored two apiece.
