Middle school hoops roundup: Crownover boys rout Strickland

Crownover's eighth-grade boys came out of the starting gate with a flurry and continued their assault in winning a 38-7 decision over Strickland in an A game Thursday.

The Cowboys jumped ahead 13-2 in the first quarter and led 17-3 at halftime.

John Jones led Crownover with 14 points, five rebounds and one steal. Preston Rush had six points, six rebounds and a steal. Kyle Bird also had six points.

McMath eighth-grade A 60, Little Elm 46

McMath opened up a quick lead and never looked back in defeating Little Elm.

For the Tigers (10-1, 3-0), Edson Vasquez led the way with 15 points. Xavier Scott and Emerson Espinosa each had 11 points and Zach Garza followed with 10.

McMath eighth-grade B 45, Little Elm 23

McMath's Malik Foster scored 12 points, Ty Riley had 11 and David Guajardo eight.

McMath eighth-grade C 32, Little Elm 14

Alex Karlsson scored nine points and Caleb Crockett and Griffen Marchand each scored six points for McMath.

Girls

Harpool eighth-grade A 32, Calhoun 18

Harpool held Calhoun scoreless in the first quarter and continued to build its lead in recording a victory.

Mallory McKnight led the Lady Longhorns with 12 points, while Mallory Ingram and Briona Davis each scored eight points.

Harpool eighth-grade B 23, Calhoun 12

Harpool scored 14 fourth-quarter points to pull away from Calhoun.

Calley Krinner led the Lady Longhorns with eight points, while Taylor Holden contributed six points.

Harpool eighth-grade C 12, Calhoun 8

Harpool scored six points in each half to register a win against Calhoun.

Ashley Hernandez led the Lady Longhorns in assists.
